Even though Ben, Gemma's parents', Anna, and Josh Holmes are not mentioned much in the book, they seem to have a lot to do with Gemma and her kidnapping. I have made the inference that Anna was Gemma's best friend, and Ben was both Anna's and Gemma's crush because Gemma always wishes that Anna was there to help and listen to her, and then Ty says when talking about Ben," Anna knew how you felt about him, she didn't like it...she didn't trust you because of it." On the other hand,Gemma's parents seem to be the typical parents in any child-parent problem story. The parents do not seem to notice their child until they lose them, which in this case happens when Gemma is kidnapped by Ty. Ty does not seem to get the fact that even though Gemma and her parents do not show extreme affection or like towards each other, they are still family and love each other. I can see that he does not understand this because he has never had real family. Gemma seemed to be screaming at him inside her head," Even though we are not close, we are still family, and we need each other," when Ty told her that she was better off without them. Oppositely, Josh Holmes seems to be a less intense version of Ty; he really likes Gemma and tries to stay close to her, but he does not stalk and kidnap her. I really hope that the author tells us more about Ben, Anna, Gemma's parents', and Josh Holmes in the next part of the book.
