In my opinion, this book is already quite confusing to me even in the very beginning. The main character, Gemma, seems to call the kidnapper, Ty, You whenever she describes him. I do not understand why she describes him as You, but I think that she might do it because she does not want to except him, and she wants to stay as far away from him as possible with no possible connection between them. Personally, I think she is handling the kidnapping very well, which is an action that I would not be able to perform. I would have freaked out, run away, and then I probably would have ended up dying from no food and water. Truthfully, I find this kidnapping very ironic because normally when someone kidnaps a girl you want something from them, but all Ty wants is company. The one part of this that I did not find ironic is that he tried to make her comfortable and think of him as a good person when he saw her in the airport. I would not have taken his kindness if I were her for two reasons. One reason would be that he is about five to ten years older than her. The second reason that I would have ignored him would have been that he seemed very uncomfortable as if he had done something that was unforgivable, and it turns out that he was most likely very uncomfortable due to the fact that he was about to kindap her. I am also suprised that Gemma was not suspicious when he poured some strange white substance into her coffee, but amazingly she did not question it. If I were in her shoes, I would not have drinken the drink, but I guess that I might be one of the only people that would have been suspicious. I do understand where Gemma was coming from about trusting Ty because she wanted to get away from her parents because she was very annoyed with them, and I think that most everyone can relate to her feelings there. Normally, if you are annoyed or angry with someone, you want to be able to trust someone and feel comfort in them, so that they can tell you everything will be ok. When she woke up in an unfamiliar bed all alone in a strange place, she reacted as I expected. She freaked out and tried to escape which I am sure everyone would do if they were in her position. I became even more surprised when Ty let Gemma tried to escape, but I think that they both know that she will not survive long enough to make it civilization. I am very anxious to see if she makes it to civilization without Ty trying to find her.
